Does your dog panic during nail trims, wriggle out of ear drops, or turn into a stress ball at the vet clinic? You are not alone—and it doesn’t have to be this way!
At One Leg Up Canine Company, we believe every aspect of your dog’s care should be rooted in trust, positive reinforcement, and clear communication. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Calm Canines to launch an exciting new Cooperative Care Workshop Series right here at our Guelph training school! What is Cooperative Care?
Cooperative care uses force-free, reward-based training to give your dog a voice and a choice in their own daily handling and medical care. Instead of restraint or force, we teach dogs how to voluntarily participate in tasks like nail grinding, eye drops, brushing, and physical exams using simple "start-button" cues.

Workshop Series Highlights
Presented in partnership with Calm Canines, this 3-week program offers direct guidance from two professional trainers to ensure you and your dog get personalized support every step of the way.
Real-World Skills: Teach clear communication cues so your dog can say "I'm ready" or ask for a pause.
Stress-Free Tool Desensitization: Build positive associations with scary tools like nail clippers, dremels, ear/eye meds, and brushes.
Fear-Free Vet Prep: Practice low-stress positioning for mock examinations, vaccinations, and blood draws.
Flexible Registration: Choose a Working Spot to attend live with your dog, or an Audit Spot for human-only attendance. Both options include 3 weeks of video homework review and feedback from our trainers!
